Our green credentials

Craft gin club and the environment

Here at Craft Gin Club, we’re always working to be as green as possible
and deliver your gin as sustainably as we can.

  • We’re always on the lookout for innovative sustainable packaging and delivery options so please don’t hesitate to drop us a line on help@craftginclub.co.uk with any options you might come across!

  • We are constantly looking for ways to find sustainable solutions to our business needs, and to support partners who promote sustainable and ethical business practices.

For example, the plastic air bags we use to protect your gin helps us to keep the weight of your Gin of the Month box as light as possible, as they consist of 98% air - this means our boxes need relatively much less fuel to get them to your door.

The boxes themselves are made from 70% recycled cardboard, and are recyclable, as is the plastic packaging inside. We are also working hard with our packaging suppliers to find an even more sustainable solution, by using a higher content of recycled plastic and finding creative solutions to eliminate the plastic in our boxes where possible, without risking any damage to the beautiful gins and other products inside.

We go even further by asking our suppliers to deliver the goodies which are featured in your Gin of the Month box in non-retail packaging, and, where possible, reusable crates, to reduce both plastic and cardboard waste.

We aim to order no more stock for our boxes than we need and, if and when any stock is remaining after all of the Gin Boxes have been packed, we send these to local food banks, where the food and soft drink items are distributed to local charities and community groups.

We also actively look to work with suppliers who care about sustainability and their environmental impact. Please see a list below of all of the brands who we have previously featured in our Gin of the Month boxes and in our online shop who are doing wonderful things to promote ethical and sustainable business practices.

  • Dash Water and Flawsome drinks - Save potentially wasted “wonky” fruit from going to landfill by making them into delicious drinks
  • One Gin - Donates their profits to support sustainable clean water and sanitation services to change lives in some of the world’s poorest countries
  • Divine Chocolate  - Spearheads the Farmer Co-operative to Empower Women Cocoa Growers
  • Altitude Gin - donates one Euro for every bottle of Altitude Gin sold to charities that help protect Mont Blanc and the Alps from climate change
  • Brown Bag Crisps - Uses only fully recyclable packaging
  • Chikas Nuts - Supports girls’ education in Africa

Our Boxes & Sustainability

Collapsible content

Is my gin box recyclable?

Yes. Seventy percent of your Gin of the Month cardboard box is made from recycled material and you can help continue its life span by removing the tape and address label and putting it into your recycling bin. You never know, it could be made into another gin box!

Is the plastic packaging in my gin box recyclable?

Yes. The plastic air bags which protect your gin and glass bottles can be deflated by popping the individual cells and recycled at plastic bag drop-off points found at most larger supermarkets.

Is my gin bottle recyclable?

Standard glass gin bottles can be recycled (or up-cycled if you are feeling creative, here are some great ideas for how to upcycle your bottles). To recycle your glass gin bottle, all that you need to do is make sure that they are rinsed clean and that their tops are securely fastened when you send them to be recycled. However, there may be months that your Craft Gin Club Gin of the Month arrives in a bottle made of a material other than glass, like ceramic for instance. In cases like this we would recommend contacting your local council to see what your recycling options are.

Are the cans of tonic and other mixers I receive recyclable?

Drinks cans are fully recyclable. Like the bottles, all that you need to do is rinse them out with water before putting them in the recycling bin.

Is my Ginned! Magazine recyclable?

We know, we know, who would ever want to throw away our precious GINNED! Magazine!? Not to worry if you do need to get rid of it though, it is recyclable; you’ll just need to remove the front and back covers and then it can go in the paper and cardboard bin with the outer packaging of your Gin of the Month box.

Are my snack and garnish packets recyclable?

Due to the variety of snacks and garnishes that we send, we can not guarantee that all of their packaging will be fully recyclable. The best way forward is to check the packaging of each item for the recycling logo or to visit websites like recyclenow.com which do great work breaking down materials by their recyclability.
