The Jockey Club is, in fact, a true classic gin cocktail that dates back to the 1930s, when the glamorous clientele of The Savoy loved to sip them as they hobnobbed with their rich and famous friends! Here, we’ve replaced the original ingredient of crème de noyaux (another, slightly bitter type of almond-flavoured liqueur) with the more commonly available (but just as delicious) amaretto.
We love the smooth, clean, citrus flavours of orange and lemon that shine through this delicate cocktail alongside the amaretto and gin, but you can add a little sugar syrup too, if you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side. Cheers!
Jockey Club
50ml gin
20ml amaretto
15ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 dash orange bitters
1 dash Angostura bitters
10ml simple syrup (optional)
Shake all the ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled martini or coupe glass. Garnish with an orange zest twist and serve!
