Dan: We've always created our own drinks, from syrups to liqueurs, but the ready-to-drink (RTD) category is one of the most exciting areas to be in right now. We already have a large community of drinks lovers who trust our recommendations and know exactly what they enjoy, so this was a really exciting opportunity to create cocktails that combine great spirits, quality ingredients and the flavours our members love. Kate: It's something Dan and I have wanted to be part of for a long time. Since day one at The Curious Drinker, we've loved creating drinks that people genuinely enjoy, whether that's through collaborating with distillers on spirits, developing syrups, or crafting bottled cocktails. Developing our own range felt like the natural next step. How did you develop the flavours? Dan: It was all about balance. We wanted each drink to taste fresh, vibrant and naturally fruity rather than overly sweet or artificial. We spent months refining the recipes until every flavour felt like a properly made cocktail, rather than simply a flavoured drink. Every spirit was selected through blind tastings, with flavour as the only priority. Kate: The starting point was our members. We looked at the flavour combinations they love most and spent months refining the recipes. We asked ourselves what we wanted each cocktail to taste like, and then chose the spirits that would best bring those flavours to life. Every spirit was chosen for a reason. We weren't looking to use ingredients that simply sounded impressive, we wanted each one to play a role in creating a cocktail that was authentic and true to the style of the drink. What makes these drinks special? Dan: For us, it as never enough simply to put classic cocktails in a can. Every drink had to deliver the quality and character you'd expect from one made fresh. That's why we've paired familiar cocktail serves with vibrant fruit flavours, creating drinks that both feel recognisable and a little curious. The alcoholic cocktails are made with carefully selected premium spirits, while the non-alcoholic range has been developed from the ground up to recreate the complexity, texture and mouthfeel of a real cocktail, rather than simply tasting like soft drink. We've also created the functional Good Spirits Blend in the non-alcoholic range, featuring magnesium, L-theanine and lion's mane, which is something I'm particularly proud of. It feels like we're creating something genuinely exciting. Kate: We wanted to create cocktails that we'd be genuinely proud to put our name to, using quality ingredients, with the consistency and convenience people expect from a can. At every stage, our members helped to shape the final range. Their feedback gave us the confidence that we weren't just creating drinks we loved, we were creating drinks that our customers genuinely wanted to drink. If we can give people a great cocktail experience wherever they are, without asking them to compromise on taste, then we've achieved exactly what we set out to do. I think that's the Curious Drinker twist. We don't believe approachable has to mean ordinary. One of the most rewarding parts of the journey was then developing the functional versions and carefully layering the flavours so they delivered the same balance, character and finish as the originals.
