Discover Gin to Suit Every Taste
Once you start paying attention to gin, you will notice the variety of flavours and styles. Some bottles are clean, dry and heavily juniper-led. They do exactly what you expect and they do it well. Other options lean into citrus, spice or floral notes, which changes how they work in a drink without losing the structure.
This is where craft gin makes a difference. Smaller producers tend to push flavour a bit further, which gives you more interesting options without needing to understand the technical side of distilling.
If you are new to gin, this makes it easier to find something you actually enjoy. If you already know what you like, it gives you somewhere to go next. A good premium gin should feel balanced, everything else comes after that.
From Classics to Flavoured Gins
There is a reason traditional gin styles have stood the test of time. They are reliable, easy to use and work across almost every drink. That said, flavoured gin has changed what people expect from a bottle. You will find fruit, spice and more unusual botanical combinations that shift the flavour in a noticeable and memorable way.
Some flavours are subtle while others are more obvious. The good ones still keep that underlying structure, so they do not feel gimmicky. With this in mind, it is less about replacing classic styles and more about having creative and enjoyable options.
British Gins & Craft Distilling
The UK has a long-standing relationship with gin, and that still shows in how it is produced today. British gin tends to sit somewhere between tradition and experimentation. You get the expected, well-balanced profiles, but you also get creative approaches that bring in different botanicals or production methods.
This is where craft gin stands out. Smaller batches mean more control, and that usually translates into a better end result. This is also something you will notice in the balance and flavour.
Gin for Cocktails & Simple Serves
Gin does not need much to work well in a drink. A bottle of gin and a decent tonic will carry you through most events or hosting opportunities. It is consistent, easy to make and does not require much effort.
At the same time, gin holds its own in more structured drinks. If you are looking for gin for cocktails, it is one of the easiest spirits to build around because it brings flavour without overwhelming everything else.
You do not need a full bar setup to make it work. A good bottle does most of the job.
Gin Gifts for Every Occasion
A bottle of gin is a safe gift, but it does not have to feel like an easy option. The difference usually comes down to what you choose. A well-selected bottle or a more considered set feels like you put some thought into it, even if the process was straightforward.
Gin gifts work because they are both practical and enjoyable. They get opened, shared and used, which is more than you can say for a lot of gifts.
If you want to take it a step further, you can explore personalised options.
Give the Gift of Discovery with The Curious Drinker Membership
If a single bottle feels a bit limited, a membership gives you something ongoing. Instead of choosing one option, you get a rotating selection over time. It is a simple way to try different styles without having to search for them yourself.
It also works well as a gift because it extends beyond the moment you give it.

Gin FAQs
How to make gin?
You can easily make your own gin at home using vodka!
The technical name for this is ‘compound gin’. It’s also sometimes called ‘bathtub gin’, which comes from the illegal batches of homemade gin that were often made in bathtubs during American Prohibition in the 1920s.

What is gin made from?
Gin is usually made from a base of grain, such as wheat or barley, which is first fermented and then distilled.
Juniper berries and other herbs, plants and spices (known as aromatics, or botanicals) are added to the fermented grain mixture along with water until the alcohol level and balance of flavours meet the required (or desired) levels.

How to make pink gin cocktails?
A pink gin cocktail will contain pink gin as the base of the drink, whereas a pink cocktail may contain classic gin. A pink cocktail may owe it’s pretty colour to another ingredient in the tipple that’s not the gin - such as a cocktail syrup, garnish, liqueur or mixer. We have cocktail recipes below that tick both boxes!
If you are looking for an easy pink gin cocktail, a pink gin and prosecco cocktail, or fruity pink gin cocktail, then take a look at these blushing beauties ! Even better? They taste as gorgeous as they look!
What is London dry gin?
The term “London dry” actually refers to a method of distilling gin. When London dry gin appears on the label of a bottle, it means a particular process was used to make the gin inside. A gin can only be labelled as “London dry gin” if it is created to very specific guidelines that were laid out in EU law in February 2008. For a gin to be called “London dry” it must be created to these specifications. Find out more about specifications here.
How is gin actually different from vodka?
In fact, the predominant flavour in gin must be juniper berries, otherwise the drink can’t be defined as gin, by law. Vodka is legally defined as a neutral spirit without any distinctive character, aroma, taste, or colour. It is distilled to be as pure and flavourless as possible.
